Fiddler on the Roof was written by Joseph Stein with music and lyrics by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick. Fiddler is one of the longest running shows and most critically acclaimed on Broadway. Fiddler on the Roof is set in Russia and tells the story of a man named Tevye, his daughters, and their Jewish tradition. Tevye is not a rich man and does the best he can for his family but as his daughters begin to get married, he wants a better life for them. The young girls begin to disobey their father and the strict traditions of their religion as the world begins to change and progress. No matter what, Tevye adores his daughters and they respect their papa. While not always easy, the family does the best they can in such a hard time and they all eventually end up moving on as they grow older. This innovative adaptation by FreeFall Theatre incorporates the use of sophisticated puppetry and actors as onstage musicians. It will make spending a night in Anatevka a pleasure and maybe even tradition.
